We have gathered all the tips to keep your skin glowing and protected in the heat.
Do you ever envision your skin in the summer to be smooth, glowing and tan? Unfortunately, due to sunny conditions, reality can be quite different, as you face the trouble of sweat, premature ageing and sunburn. But no need to panic, you don't have to completely overhaul your winter skincare routine with new products. In this blog, we share some simple steps you can take to achieve the perfect summertime skin.
1. BEGIN WITH SMALL CHANGES
If you're not wearing a winter coat, why should your skin, right? if during the winter season you used gentler cream cleansers and more hydrating moisturizers to counteract the drying winter climate, you may now want to change back to more thorough foaming cleansers and light-weight moisturizers.
2. MOISTURIZER CAN BECOME OPTIONAL
A good sunscreen will do the job! It will moisturize your skin and protect it at the same time. So usually there is no need for an additional moisturizer in the summer unless you have very dry skin. In such a case, you can layer a light-weight hyaluronic acid serum underneath your sunscreen.
3. CUT DOWN YOUR SHOWER TIME.
We get it, between workouts, beach days, and plain old summer sweat, many of us shower more than once a day during the summer. But it is important to keep the showers short, around 4 to 5 minutes. Over-showering, or showering in water that is too hot, can lead to over-drying your skin, leading to inflammation and even summertime eczema.
4. TIME TO ADD EXTRA EXFOLIATION SKIN-CARE STEP
Dermatologists are often reminding us not to over-exfoliate, but the summertime, it's the season to slough away. If you have oily skin, we suggest incorporating more exfoliation into your skin-care routine. That doesn't mean a daily dose of all your favourite acids, but try slowly increasing the number of days you exfoliate per week.
5. DOUBLE CHEKC YOUR MAKEUP LABELS
Take a close look at your makeup product labels and only keep those that are non-comedogenic. That's a fancy word for a product formulated without pore-clogging ingredients. Especially over the summer, we recommend you to wear makeup that is not going to occlude your skin, such as, powder sunscreen, oil-free primer, or a lightweight foundation.
6. SPF, SPF, SPF!
We saved the most important, fundamental, don't-leave-home-without-it tip for last: Wear sunscreen. Experts recommend a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher as a must. Don't forget about hands, feet, ears, and lips.
Now go out and enjoy the sun!
